The Mystery of Oman

S. T. Levin News & Notes 0 0

  I.  History

During the Reagan years, when I first developed a political awareness just a few years before I was 40, my memory of what knowledge I began to acquire about the Arab world left me with a certain impression of Oman.  Oman was located in the northeast corner of the Arabian Peninsula and was then governed by the most pro-Western (monarchical) government east of the Maghreb with the sole exception of Anwar Sadat’s Egypt.  (Unfortunately, the Muslim Brotherhood…..

S. T. Levin News & Notes 0 0

  I.  History

 II.  My Contemporary Fantasies

So Saudi Arabia wants to build a $9 million mosque in Catholic Cuba.  Maybe Pope Leo could beg for permission to build a $9 million church in Saudi Arabia where churches existed for many centuries before…..
