My 1960s college dictionary defines ‘Hostage’ as: 1. A person kept or given as a pledge for the fulfillment of certain agreements; 2. The state of the person thus kept or given.
That is it!
Although a near universal human practice, it is most easily ascertainable in Western European Civilization’s history.
During the Golden Age of Athens, when Pericles the Great was so often the senior General and, therefore, the Political and Military Chief Executive Officer of the Athenian-led Delian League, there were countless occasions when an ‘allied’ city-state’s leading families placed relatives in Athens to ensure their loyalty while being allowed otherwise independent self-government. This was common practice among ‘free’ societies like Athens.
[Sparta and the Peloponnesian League – a military dictatorship – would place a dominant military occupation force in such a jurisdiction to ensure loyalty – just as they did in Athens in 404 BCE when they had won the Peloponnesian War and designated Plato’s relative Critias as the Senior Tyrant of 30 with the right (often exercised) of simply executing Athenian citizens at their will.]
During the last 1-2 centuries of the Western Roman Empire (ending with the Fall of Rome in 476), due to declining power and manpower shortages, the northern frontier was no longer defended by any of the 32 legions that previously had defended all the frontier areas, everywhere, on all three continents insuring loyalty. Half a century ago, when I read a 700-page abridged version of Edward Gibbon’s “Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire,” I remember being astonished that there developed a regular practice of Roman Emperors giving one or more daughters as ‘Hostage’ to the allied frontier tribes that defended the northern borders.
Hostages lived safe, comfortable and privileged lives in ‘voluntary captivity.’ Mistreatment of Hostages was a serious breach of the ‘Protocols’ of international law.
My college dictionary is from the early 1960s. Its definition of ‘Hostage’ was clearly overturned in 1972 at the time of the Munich Olympics by Black September and the West German government and the rest of the so-called Civilized Western World.
In September 1970 (hence the name ‘Black September’), the Marxist-Leninist Soviet-sponsored PLO attempted to overthrow the Jordanian Monarchy of the then Hashemite King Hussein (the father of today’s weak-willed monarch). The monarchy was saved – not by their long-term sponsors in the UK or other NATO powers but the Israel Defense Forces – mostly the Israeli Air Force. The PLO Organized Crime Leadership and the UNRWA-subsidized camp followers in ever growing numbers of Arab migrants in poverty elsewhere fled first to the Hafez-el-Assad’s Syrian police state also allied to the Marxist-Leninist Soviet Union. The Syrians used their superior Soviet tanks to ‘redirect’ the mob into Lebanon. Within a few years, 100,000 Maronite Christians were massacred (with virtually non-existent sympathy from Western governments and the EVIL SCUMBAG PRESS) and a PLO state-within-a-state took power.
[As to the UNRWA, and even more so the IDF subsequent history serves as living proof of the old sarcastic saying: ‘No Good Deed Goes Unpunished.’ Today’s Jordanian monarchy no longer defends Civilization from its enemies.]
[During WW I, the UK, via the Balfour Declaration, promised a Zionist Homeland in the Mandate of ‘Palestine’ to the Jews for contributing manpower to the war effort. Due to the Arab Revolt (as per Lawrence of Arabia) against the Ottoman Empire, there was also promised a ‘homeland’ in the Mandate of Palestine. In 1921, the eastern three-quarters was granted to the Hashemite Sharif of Mecca’s youngest son as the Emirate of Trans-Jordan. The Jews had to wait.
[Winston Churchill was a sincere and enthusiastic Zionist even before the Holocaust during WW II. Between the German surrender in April (officially in May) and the Japanese surrender in August of 1945, the UK held an election for the first time in nine years. A war-time unity coalition government had operated from 1939 to 1945. From 1970 until June 6, 1982 when they were kicked out of Lebanon all the way to Tunisia (kicked out along with their European Japanese Marxist-Leninist ‘Red Army’ terrorist colleagues who disappeared after the Cold War ended), Lebanon was run by the PLO. They subjugated the poor Shia Lebanon underclass in the Beqaa Valley to grow narcotics for profitable export to the corrupt European Oligarchy. For his own personal security, Yasser Arafat had sole control of the Swiss Bank accounts. (A devilishly clever organized crime leader, if ever there was one.)
Well before the September 5, 1972 Munich Olympic Massacre, the PLO as a Soviet-allied (independent of Arab governments) terrorist collective group had a number of its terrorist factions perform commercial airline and passengers hijackings with virtually no penalty – only rewards.
The ‘Terrorist Protocol’ began in 1968 (independent of all Arab governments) – what a coincidence!
Back when they were active, those European Marxist-Leninist Terrorists loved to wear masks, immerse themselves in great mobs of ‘Mostly Peaceful’ Marxist-Leninist Useful Idiot Protestors and Demonstrators for ‘Peace’ and against ‘American Imperialism’ emerging briefly to murder an isolated police officer. Not one was ever executed. Name three who spent any years in jail – I can’t. These college-indoctrinated Social Justice Warriors have mostly enjoyed lives vastly more ‘privileged’ than common citizens as if their crimes had never occurred.
At 4:10AM on September 5, 1972, eight well-armed ‘Black September’ terrorists broke into the Israeli dormitory in the Olympic Village in Munich, killed two resisting Israelis and seized the other nine as prisoners (erroneously and evermore called ‘Hostages’). During the daytime, starting at 9:00AM, three factors should be specified. First, their original goal was to fly with their nine Israeli prisoners to Egypt – a Soviet ally. Secondly, starting at 9:00AM, massive worldwide Media coverage (i.e., EVIL SCUMBAG PRESS) provided endless opportunity for free publicity for their ‘DEMANDS.’ And thirdly, while a German undertrained anti-terrorist team was approaching their position, the terrorists watched the EVIL SCUMBAG PRESS TV coverage of the rescue team which obviously had to give up the attempt even before it got started.
Hours later, on the airport tarmac, the botched West German sniper team shot to death five of the eight terrorists (and one unfortunate German policeman), but not before the Arab Nazis had murdered the nine Israeli prisoners. Three of these Arab Nazis connivingly ‘played dead’ and were taken prisoner.
Fifty-five days later, on October 29, Luftwaffe Flight 615 was hijacked and the three putatively heroic Social Justice Warriors were safely flown to Libya for a glorious welcome throughout the UNCIVILIZED portions of the Racist Islamic Supremacist World.
It is my most sincere belief that, when Uncivilized Murderers are free to murder again, rather than properly executed until there are no more, it is only a question of time before all common people in the Civilized World are replaced by three groups: Savage Animal Beasts, Ruling Class Educated Collaborators and the Slave Underclass.
