Ernest Hemingway and War

S. T. Levin News & Notes 0 0

Two generations of American novelists referred to Ernest Hemingway as ‘Papa’ because his fiction writing style was so innovative compared to previous fiction writers.  Hemingway became a young newspaper reporter who meticulously learned the Dogmatic Protocols of (non-college indoctrinated) journalism.  You must answer six questions: four are basic factual questions (Who?  What?  When?  Where?) and two are partially speculative questions about context and meaning (Why?  How?).

In 1915, Italy joined the allied side of WWI.  Hemingway, born in 1899, had excessively poor eyesight as an 18-year-old volunteer for the American Army in 1917, so to get a closer look at WWI, he volunteered as an ambulance driver for the Italian army.  They picked up wounded Italian soldiers at or near the battlefield and drove them to hospitals at the rear.

After the war, in becoming a true journalist, he learned those six questions that all ethical competitive journalists follow due to the threat of competitors exposing the journalist’s deficiencies.  His journalism style became his fiction writing style with three successful works of fiction in the 1920s.  His novel “A Farewell to Arms” was about an American ambulance driver in WWI Italy – and became two famous movies about 25 years apart.

At Normandy Beach, in June 1944, at the age of 44, ‘Papa’ Hemingway was in a landing barge on the second wave at Utah Beach as an American Journalist.  In WWI and also WWII, the idea of an American journalist presenting the Point-of-View of an enemy was NOT journalism – but treasonous (advocacy) especially in WWII where collaborators after the war were sometimes executed.

[American war correspondents, like Hemingway at Normandy, wore regular American military uniforms and traveled with American troops.  The most famous American WWII war correspondent, Ernie Pyles, was consequentially killed by a Japanese sniper in the Battle of Okinawa in 1945.]

The idea that journalists should be looking for imperfections on their own side to massively enhance their egotistic careers never occurred in Civilization until the 1960s.  Soldiers can be as easily killed accidentally by ‘Friendly Fire’ and the use of HUMAN SHIELDS was a Capital War Crime by those hiding – until somehow that International Law of Warfare mysteriously changed to advantage Savage Arab Terrorists after the 1960s.  (I do not believe that the change was real or legitimate – but a product of Political Cowardice and Corruption by the Ruling Class simply ASSUMING the Laws of Warfare were changed legitimately.)

Now this insanity is standardized treason by the above the Rule of Law EVIL SCUMBAG PRESS even used against the USA.
