I. The Problem
Since Republicans are the schlimazels of our politics [the passive schmucks that the schlemiels (i.e., Democratic Party schmucks) spill the soup on in the restaurant of politics], it is a complete mystery to these schmucks how DSA highly-organized Communist ‘stalking horses’ win so many primary elections in the Democrat Party.
The best that the world can come up with is the twin observations that the DSA subversives spend far less money on Political Advertising (which befuddles all the ‘Political Experts’) and occasionally also includes the barely noticed observation that thousands and thousands of enthusiastic so-called ‘Volunteers’ who work for free.
How can that be? Corrupt American politics is a massive multi-billion-dollar industry with exorbitantly overpaid ‘Consultants’ and exorbitantly overpriced media advertisements keeping the Donor (and profiteering corrupt News Media) Game going.
[I remember Rush Limbaugh saying the reason that he was never tempted to run for political office was the Donor campaign advertising corrupt nature of what it has evolved into.]
The NYC recently elected Hard-Left Islamic Alliance extremist mayor gave me a little insight into the secret mechanism.
II. The History
Way back in the 1950s and 1960s, I learned how things used to operate in New York political campaigns on the Upper West Side of Manhattan where I was born and raised.
In those days, there was a true two-party competition in New York State – though the NYC political scene was overwhelmingly Democrat Party old-fashioned normal people. Upstate New York was so overwhelmingly Republican that the state-wide offices were always up for grabs.
In those days, political media advertising was small and mostly insignificant because political corruption was small and insignificant compared to this 21st Century world.
The minimum wage, for ages, was $1/hour. (My first summer job in 1959 was at that long-standing rate.)
There was one legal exception to that rule. At campaign time, teenagers were hired to pass out advertisements on the street – but could be legally so employed at a mere 40 cents per hour.
The frugal (naïve) Republicans found a few such 40 cents per hour supporters. The shrewd Democrat Party paid $1/hour which helped keep their dominance in the area forever.
There were no other ‘imbalances’ that I can recall from back then – but, in the last half-century, that has changed evermore tragically.
Before 2000, when Ralph Nader soiled his so-called Liberal credentials by running as a Green Party candidate for president, he invented the so-called ‘Volunteer College Student Political Activist.’ (The idea in America of being a ‘Volunteer’ previously had nothing to do with Politics and everything to do with helping people individually who are less fortunate.) His ‘Public Interest Group’ organizations have, for decades, been on college campuses with (for at least part of the history) clandestinely funded by ‘student dues.’ Non-political college students generally paid their ‘dues’ in total ignorance.
The college student political recruitment industry only grew over time.
Well before the 21st Century, when walking in a neighborhood with two large urban universities, I would encounter a well-trained pair of ‘volunteers,’ facing each other 10 feet apart, to completely cover the street and ever so politely soliciting signatures for ‘politics.’ It was my distinct impression that they were unpaid in money. I have for years assumed, rightly or wrongly, that there were academic advantages for such student ‘brown-nosing.’
Anyone who has been to college (even back in the 1960s when I was a college student) is fully aware that the world insists ‘brown-nosing’ students accrue no advantage in class or subsequent careers from such behavior. Even back when I was a student and ‘brown-nosing’ was a socially shameful activity, everyone knew that the truth is the opposite of that denial of Teacher Prejudices in an enormous portion of ‘Education.’
In my era, the phony term ‘Mentors’ did not exist. People were individuals. Social groups cheated but shamefully.
III. Contemporary Extension
For decades, at campaign time (and even otherwise), I would encounter college students ‘pushing’ political candidates and actions on the street. Whenever I asked them if they were paid, the honest majority would tell me, in recent years, as much at $20/hour. It was a way to earn some money.
In the last year, when our city was totally captured by the Hard-Left Islamic Alliance, I noticed a significant difference. These ‘activists’ were very upscale (well-funded by family) enthusiasts who came in two categories.
The passive ones were attractive young females simply handing out beautifully constructed advertisements.
The active ones, looking for discussion and/or signatures, were the first such overt political activists who, when I asked “what do they pay you for this?,” replied with a very sincere-looking face: “Oh, I don’t get paid – I am a Volunteer – because I think this is SO-O-O IMPORTANT!”
It seems obvious to me that the Hard-Left Islamic Alliance decades-old takeover of Higher Education is being used to take over the Democrat Party in primary after primary.
Rich kids do not need to be paid – they need to FEEL IMPORTANT IN HEROICALLY MAKING A BETTER WORLD (they need to desperately escape the realistic assessment that THEY are the Personally Privileged not the working class of common people who may be white but personally unprivileged)!
[And, if they are really good brown-nosing students, they can acquire high-paying (thoroughly unnecessary) Big Government Bureaucrat jobs, go into politics and become even richer than their mere millionaire parents.]
Political ‘Volunteers’ is a very different phenomenon than the Schmucks of both political parties believe them to be.
